This gave them complete freedom to experiment without the pressure of a commercial studio.\n\nHolger Czukay, the bassist, often recorded his parts with unconventional techniques, like cutting tape loops or manipulating feedback, which added a slightly disorienting, off-kilter feel to the rhythm. Meanwhile, Jaki Liebezeit plays drums with such mechanical precision that the song achieves its hypnotic, almost trance-like pulse — even though it was all recorded live."

The band consists of Gomez Walker (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Spencer Tweedy (drums), Max Subar (guitar, pedal steel), Scott Daniel (fiddle), and Jason Ashworth (bass).\n\nEmerging from Chicago’s vaunted music community, Case Oats began life seven years ago when Gomez Walker, a writer and poet with some experience in bands, met Tweedy, a seasoned drummer who has performed with Jeff Tweedy, Waxahatchee, Mavis Staples, and Norah Jones. Not long after meeting, they started writing songs together, and in the time since their formation, Case Oats have homed in on a lived-in sound that perfectly complements Gomez Walker’s lyrics which are wry and confessional and full-bodied.\n\nhttps://www.mergerecords.com/artist/case_oats"

"text": "The way Jeff Tweedy tells it, 'Twilight Override' — his new triple album, with 30 songs on three discs — got its start on a road trip.\n\nTweedy was planning a four-hour drive with his two sons. He decided it was a good occasion to listen all the way through “Sandinista!,” the 1980 triple album by the Clash: a sprawl of brash, style-hopping songs and studio experiments. Soon, the idea of making his own triple album took hold. In a video interview, he jokingly dubbed the new album “Sad-inista.”\n\nA triple album is “counterintuitive,” he said. “By giving somebody a lot of music to luxuriate in, you’re setting up a little barrier. But it’s also for a certain type of listener to be rewarded. And I just thought that it flies in the face of a culture that’s gotten faster, more surface level.”\n\nRead more about the band and recording the album here:\nhttps://www.highroadtouring.com/how-jeff-tweedy-made-a-new-magnum-opus"

"text": "Illinois’ Jeff Tweedy has had a long and illustrious career, making music for nearly his entire life. Tweedy started his musical journey in high school with Jay Farrar in a band called The Plebes, which later became Uncle Tupelo. After Uncle Tupelo broke up, he formed the legendary Wilco. \n\nHe has also had numerous solo projects dating back to 2014. His most recent project was a triple-album of solo material. He wrote the album over a two year period and recorded the 30 tracks in collaboration with friends and both of his sons, Sammy and Spencer."
