"text": "Oasis accused The Verve of using songwriting teams, an accusation The Verve denied\n\n“Bitter Sweet Symphony” is based on a sample from a 1965 version of the Rolling Stones song “The Last Time” by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra. The Verve added strings, guitar, percussion and vocals. They obtained rights to use the “Last Time” sample from the copyright holder, Decca Records, but were denied permission from the Rolling Stones’ former manager, Allen Klein. Following a lawsuit, the Verve relinquished all royalties and the Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were added to the songwriting credits. In 2019, following Klein’s death, Jagger, Richards, and Klein’s son ceded the rights to the Verve songwriter Richard Ashcroft.\n--\nGo here to listen to how the song sounds WITHOUT the sample: https://sampleface.co.uk/a-brief-sample-analysis-of-the-verves-bitter-sweet-symphony/"

"text": "Insults and reported physical altercations, mostly between Liam Gallagher/Noel Gallagher and Michael Hutchence, characterized the heated rock rivalry between Oasis and INXS in the mid-1990s. Hutchence surreptitiously recorded the shout \"I'm better than Oasis\" into the chorus of the 1997 song \"Elegantly Wasted\" in retaliation for Noel calling him a \"has-been\" at the 1996 Brit Awards, which marked the height of the rivalry."
