She epitomised the sound and style of the 60s. I’ve been sick with long haul covid since December 2022 with over 80 symptoms that can’t be explained. I was so scared to start chemo and pile on chemo on top of long covid this time. I talked to a priest who told me This is difficult, pray with all your heart, put your trust in him and you will have your answer. I did and from that moment forward, I haven’t looked back. This song came up in my playlist one day and I truly believe God is shining his light on me and I will be a testament to his greatness."

"text": "Ronan in Greenlake: \n\nHearing everyone’s stories has inspired me to share my recent battle with cancer. 4 months ago they found a large mass growing on the back of my femur which turned out to be bone cancer. A month and a half later I endured a 13 hour surgery in which they successfully removed the mass and replaced the void with donor bone from my lower leg. I was incredibly fortunate and the cancerous cells had not yet spread to the rest of my body. Last weeks tests looked good and I was recently granted permission to put a fraction of my weight on that leg. I have spent the day listening to others moving stories that have helped me process emotions that I didn’t know I was feeling. I am so grateful for the KEXP community for helping me achieve a new step in my journey."

"text": "Angela in Olympia: \n\nAt the end of my freshman year of college my world collapsed when my mom died of leukemia after a hard fought 9 month battle. I’ve spent a lifetime grieving the loss of her life and of the life I thought I would have. She was an incredible person, so much so that during her stay in the terminal cancer unit the nurses would come into her room so she could cheer *them* up. We lived in Charleston, WV during my childhood years where she coached, volunteered, and opened our home to friends and strangers to show them the same love and kindness she showed the nurses caring for her as she died. Would you please play Lana del Ray’s version of Take Me Home Country Roads in honor of my mom, gone 35 years this year. Thank you KEXP for always being that bright shining spot in my life like she was."

"text": "Ange in AZ:\n\nI've lost so many family members to cancer and had always worried when it would hit me too. At 33, I was diagnosed woth thyroid cancer that had metastcized. Although im in remission, they've just found a few new nodules recently. It's looking optimistic but the worry is heavy. All I can do is keep my head up, move forward, and enjoy the time I have in this life. I would love to hear Heart's \"dreamboat annie\" please, as it brings me right into that state of mind. I'm thankful for my family and friends' support. Thankful for KEXP for doing shows like this. Music truly heals."

"text": "Gil B in Sunnyvale, CA:\n\nIn September I will be “celebrating” one year since I was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, with tumors in my brain and lung. Hearing those words was overwhelming, not just for me but also for my family, who have stood by me through every step. Together we faced brain surgery, rounds of radiotherapy, and months of immunotherapy that are finally nearing completion. It has been the hardest year of my 49 years, filled with fear, challenges, and uncertainty, but also with the strength and love of those closest to me.\n\nThrough it all, music became one of my most important lifelines. It gave me comfort on the hardest days, lifted my spirits when I felt low, and reminded me to keep moving forward. KEXP has been a big part of that. Your voices, your music, and your energy have kept me hopeful.
