"text": "Six Degrees of Vancouver BC industrial legends Skinny Puppy! Skinny Puppy was a Canadian electro-industrial band formed in Vancouver in 1982. The group was among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres. Initially envisioned as an experimental side-project by cEvin Key (Kevin Crompton) while he was in the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Nivek Ogre (Kevin Ogilvie). Over the course of 13 studio albums and many live tours, Key and Ogre were the only constant members. Other members have included Dwayne Goettel (1986–1995, also died in 1995), Dave \"Rave\" Ogilvie (long-time associate and producer from 1984 to 1996, and an official member from 1987 to 1988; not a relative of Kevin Ogilvie), Bill Leeb (1984–1986, under the pseudonym Wilhelm Schroeder), Mark Walk (2003–2023), and a number of guests, including Al Jourgensen (1989), Danny Carey (2004), and many others."

"text": "This blend of rap, rock and electronica is centered on a sample of Cab Calloway's 1943 tune \"Hi-De-Ho Man.\" That song is a rework of the jazz singer's signature number, \"Minnie the Moocher.\"\n---\nA Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip contributes his own scat vocals to the song. The two originally got together when White contributed to three tracks on A Tribe Called Quest's \"We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service\" album. Q-Tip continued sending him tracks and White thought he might be interested in joining him on \"Hi-De-Ho.\" He sent the rapper the music with the Cab Calloway sample on it, and five minutes later he sent it back with his own scatting on it."

Sampling The Heath Brothers' \"Smilin' Billy Suite Pt 2\" and produced by Q-Tip, \"One Love\" is composed as a series of letters written by Nas to his incarcerated friends, describing events that have occurred prior to and after the receivers' imprisonment. \n\n\"Q-Tip used to come and hang out with me in my projects from time to time. I remember him coming out there and hanging out, and I remember him letting me hang out at his session when he was working on Midnight Marauders. I thought he was just the most incredible, so to have him producing my album, for him to even do the chorus for me is a blessing. The song just came from life, it's a song about letters to prison inmates, friends of mine, shout-outs to childhood friends and their uncles and people who were like family to me. I was, again, too young to be going through all of that. That's what I think about when I hear that album.
