She was only 58, full of life, but cancer is a motherf---. On my drive there I listened to the morning show, and John was playing the Grateful Dead, which I was going to request for Edie. John beat me to it! At the memorial, I met another dear friend of Edie who was also listening to KEXP on her drive, and had heard the Dead songs and was also thinking of Edie! We connected over our love for this station, and for how much Edie LOVED music. Edie's sister in law showed me a video of Edie, on hospice, weeks before her passing, singing Chaka Kahn in her hospital bed, using a giant sunflower as a microphone. THATS the kind of woman we're talking about here! Edie's incredible daughter Sophie celebrated her birthday last week, so I'd love to dedicate \"\"Ain't Nobody\"\" OR \"\"China Cat Sunflower\"\" to Sophie and her\n brother Charlie--your mom Edie was and is the absolute best.\"","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"trackplay"}
