That was what ‘Grey Cell Green’ was about. A lot of people think it’s a love song. It isn’t a love song. I mean, people can have it as a love song. But what I was writing at the time was related to lots of people saying, “We’ve got to get in touch with Mother Earth. It’s in the trees. It’s all around us. We’re gonna get all conceptual and love the planet,” and I was saying, “Actually, it’s down to us....if I say so myself, the concept of making your grey cells turn to green issues, I think that’s a decent hook for where we’re at right now.” --John Penney: https://www.indiependent.co.uk/interview-neds-atomic-dustbin/",

"comment": "“On the first version I did of Let’s Dance, I was playing a lot of fast and fancy stuff on the bass,” bassist Erdal Kızılçay later said of the session. But while his self-confessed attempts at emulating jazz bassist Jaco Pastorious left Bowie with “a little smile on his face”, [producer Nile] Rodgers “came to me and said, ‘Erdal, that’s great the way you play, but don’t play that shit. I love it, but, it’s not your solo album, it’s David Bowie’s!’” Together, the pair worked out a more streamlined bass part that would anchor the recording.\" Here's a great article on the production of this song: https://www.thisisdig.com/feature/lets-dance-david-bowie-song-story/",

Thank you so much for being here today!\n--\nPerhaps an appropriate song for a Pacific Northwest that has experienced a \"bomb cyclone....\"\n---\nThis evolved out of a jam session when the band was messing around with \"Ghost Riders In the Sky,\" a 1948 cowboy song by Stan Jones that was later recorded by Johnny Cash, Bing Crosby and many others. It was Jim Morrison's idea to alter the title to \"Riders On The Storm.\" Ray Manzarek used a Fender Rhodes electric piano to create the effect of rain.\n---\nThis was Jim Morrison's final recording. He died in France a few weeks later. Ray Manzarek said in September, 2011: \"There's a whisper voice on 'Riders on the Storm,' if you listen closely, a whispered overdub that Jim adds beneath his vocal. That's the last thing he ever did. An ephemeral, whispered overdub.\"",
