Bob Marley - Three Little Birds. I’ve been singing this song to my son since his birth. It helps us relax and hope that things will be alright. He is currently hospitalized and this would mean the world to us if we can hear this today through KEXP. If you can give my son a shout out, we would be so thrilled. My son’s name is James Gael. It would mean a lot during this hard time to hear such a beautiful track of hope. Thanks for existing.\n---\nWe hope that \"every little thing gonna be all right\" for James. \n--\nHere's the official animated music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNBCVM4KbUM",

It was such a wonderful song that immediately caught my attention. A beautiful voice and melody that transcends any sort of language barrier. It doesn't hurt that all the other instruments are in top form.\n--\n Novos Baianos were a Brazilian rock and MPB group founded in Salvador, Bahia in 1969. The group was active between 1969 and 1979, enjoying success throughout the 1970s. The group had reunions in 1997, 2015 and 2020. Together, the group recorded eight full-length studio albums, as well as two live albums.",

"comment": "Proud Amplifier Rose in Ballard wrote us: \"I wasn't going to send in a request since I figured y'all would be bombarded, but as the DJs have read people's stories about why they listen to and power KEXP, one of the themes that stood out was music discovery. KEXP proudly exhibits a level of curiosity about the world and the people in it that isn't often seen in today's media. You all foster that by playing your own interests, listener requests, and starting programs like 90.teen. We support you all by listening, spreading word of mouth, and donating if feasible. \n\nSo, my request is about music discovery. If it pleases the DJ, \"\"Força Estranha\"\" as sung by Gal Costa from her 1979 album Gal Tropical. It's about observing the world you're in and seeing the beauty all around you, which speaks right to your mission. Plus, Gal's voice is beyond belief.\"\n--\n--\nShe was born Maria da Graça Penna Burgos Costa in 1945, in Salvador, Bahia. It was so hard to leave KEXP behind, so you can imagine the pure joy I felt when I saw the announcement that KEXP was setting up in the Bay. Very grateful to be a part of building KEXP community in San Francisco now. It would mean the world if I could hear Grant Green (ft. Charles Bradley) by Mr Jukes if you can fit it into your show. Rock on!\n--\nMr Jukes is the solo project of Bombay Bicycle Club frontman Jack Steadman. Mr Jukes debut album 'God First' drew inspiration from jazz, soul and funk, and features several collaborations. He teamed up with Charles Bradley on this track honoring the great jazz guitarist Grant Green, which pulls a sample from the song \"Ain't It Funky Now\".",

It brings me closer to a world of music than I ever could get on my own, and it brings me closer to a world of loving and caring human beings than I could ever get on my own. In a world where it feels hard to find hope, KEXP delivers it every day. So thankful to have KEXP by my side. I'd love to request \"Home\" by LCD Soundsystem. This was a massive song for me upon its release, right after my dad died. I'd listen to it smiling, crying, feeling joy for the time he and I had, even in the depths of my grief. Just like the song does, KEXP always reminds me: \"Look around you, you're surrounded It won't get any better\" Thank you, KEXP! I love you!\n--\nJames Murphy explained this song to NME in 2010, saying, \"I wanted to make something with a happy ending. I wanted it to be about being in a band and how much I like it.\"",

In this mind-boggling start to '26 for the entire human species, I've had my personal life upended as well. \nOn 3/30/23 I had 4 ischemic strokes and an ensuing heart procedure on 7/2/23 that was thought to have resolved the root cause. I survived a near-death experience and felt rather miraculous. Then, on 12/28/25--a couple of weeks ago--I had a seizure while on a bike ride. It was my first ever; I came to in the back of an ambulance, absolutely (sober and) unaware how I got there. The cause is still unknown. The 2 events may or may not be related. I still have more tests and neurology appointments to work through in the hope that they find a cause. It's very, very difficult to feel optimistic about anything right now, but I am trying to lean into gratitude. It doesn't always feel genuine, but I do know that I'm still way more fortunate than generations of equally deserving folks across this crazy planet, and if I can get to gratitude, it genuinely helps. I moved out here in '95 and my housemates that live downstairs having to be a DJ on KCMU on Saturday morning and I was like well damn I can't really get that station out in Redmond at my job unless I go to the roof, but You can win me over if you play some Fugazi sure enough I got to the roof that morning and first song I heard was Fugazi. He said I've been a donator ever since anyway that's my story so you know I requested Fishbone subliminal fascism because I thought it was pertinent even though it's not so subliminal anymore but I think maybe let's go full circle and you guys just play some killer Fugazi. Thanks, Larry and Sharlese",
