Her music is a combination of traditional Inuit throat singing and indie pop rock.\n--\nIn addition to her music and art practice, Deer is an activist working to bring attention to suicide awareness and prevention in Indigenous communities. She speaks openly about her personal experiences with suicide and depression to foster dialogue on a global scale. Deer is a multifaceted artist who uses her public platform to increase discourse on social issues.\n--\nGo here to purchase her just-released excellent new album: https://beatricedeer.bandcamp.com/album/inuit-legend",

In addition to fronting Whispertown, Nagler has co-written with artists like Phoebe Bridgers, HAIM, and Kim Deal, and her work on Bridgers’ “Kyoto” even earned a Grammy nomination. With I’ve Got Nothing to Lose, and I’m Losing It, her first album released under her own name, Nagler steps back into the spotlight with a set of songs that feel personal, honest, direct, and grounded in strong songwriting. Produced by Kyle Thomas (King Tuff), the record blends indie rock, folk, and country touches while keeping the focus squarely on Nagler’s voice and lyrics.\": https://glidemagazine.com/323313/morgan-nagler-leaves-the-background-behind-on-enchanting-debut-ive-got-nothing-to-lose-and-im-losing-it-album-review/",

"comment": "Machito was born Francisco Raúl Gutiérrez Grillo in about 1908. Growing up in Cuba, he studied music and performed professionally as a singer and percussionist before moving to New York City in 1937. There he formed his group the Afro-Cubans, with future brother-in-law Bauzá serving as musical director. They are credited with bringing together Afro-Cuban rhythms, improvisation, and big band jazz to form an influential legacy that includes Latin jazz, salsa music, and Afro-Cuban jazz, sometimes referred to as “Cubop.” According to Bauzá, the music was “like lemon meringue pie: jazz in the top and African-Cuban rhythms at the bottom.”",

"comment": "Jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval will be at Yoshi's in Oakland on Friday and Saturday, June 12th and 13th.\n--\nHe frequently incorporates high-energy scat singing into his performances. His scatting is known for its incredible speed, technical precision, and humorous falsetto, showcasing a mastery of bebop phrasing. \n--\nHe is releasing a new album, SANGÚ, on May 1 and is performing at clubs and jazz festivals throughout the year. \n\nThe 76-year-old recently shared the album’s lead single “Scat,” which is driven by a deep Afro-Cuban funk groove layered with brass. The album’s 12-tracks are a swirl of bebop, jazz fusion, Cuban phrasing and batá-inspired rhythms.",
