"comment": "You can see Avalon Emerson at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco on Thursday, May 21st. Avalon Emerson's new album released in March.\n--\nEmerson was born in San Francisco and raised in a musical household in Arizona. Along with Nine Inch Nails and Cocteau Twins, her mother played a lot of synth pop in the house—\"Propaganda, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Depeche Mode.\"\n\nHer father plays guitar, and the two of them along with her sister would record using Cakewalk, sparking an early interest in music production.\n\nAt 19, Emerson moved to San Francisco where she worked as a software developer and began to make electronic dance music, DJ and throw warehouse parties in the SoMa district of the city, before moving to Berlin in 2014.\n\nOn this album, Emerson worked on the follow-up to her 2023 dream-pop project with producers Bullion and Rostam Batmanglij. https://tinyurl.com/bdzez5xv",

"comment": "\"LA-based singer-songwriter Morgan Nagler lets it all hang out on her stellar debut solo album. After co-writing with the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Margo Price, and Kim Deal, and focusing on her band projects Whispertown and Supermoon, she set out to craft her most personal collection to date in the wake of a devastating breakup. With clever, diaristic lyricism, gripping hooks, and arrangements that range from lush to minimal, ‘I've Got Nothing to Lose, and I'm Losing It’ is perfectly rough around the edges, embodying the raw, confessional nature of these songs as she’s 'rollin’ through the wreckage,' blending folk, bedroom pop, and indie rock with striking emotional clarity and a cunning sense of humor,\" writes KEXP's Music Director, Chris Sanely.\n\nIf you want access to more reviews like this one, you can sign up for our New Music Tuesday newsletter! "comment": "French electronic duo Air released “Radio #1” on their 2001 album 10 000 Hz Legend, blending dreamy synth-pop with their signature downtempo sound.\n--\n\nEager to prove their songwriting smarts and knowledge of traditionalist pop on their sophomore work, French band Air pulled back slightly from the milky synth pop of their 1998 debut, Moon Safari. 10,000 Hz Legend is a darker work, just as contemplative and unhurried as its predecessor, but part of a gradual move from drifting, almost pastoral melancholia to a downright post-modern helplessness in league with Radiohead. --Allmusic (https://tinyurl.com/mr2yyv92)\n\nhttps://www.airfrenchband.com/",

"comment": "The Super Falling Star (Moog mix) is a rare, alternate version of the opening track from Stereolab's 1992 debut album, Peng! \n\nThe Moog mix remains a rare artifact that reflects the band's foundational obsession with vintage analog gear. The Moog synthesizer was a radical choice in the early '90s indie scene, which was then dominated by guitars. By highlighting the Moog in this alternate mix, Tim Gane and Laetitia Sadier were explicitly defining their unique aesthetic.\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDdPXiZDyOw",
