I was browsing YouTube when I first came across the sample that's the kind of core of this track, which is the track by Gloria Barnes also called 'Home.'\n\n\"It's kind of a lost, soul gem. I spend a lot of time in my life digging for records in dusty warehouses and flea markets and things. Now, just as often, I'm looking for music on YouTube, and that’s how I came across this track. She found that the medication-influenced change in her brain chemistry affected her ability to write songs from the immediate, emotional place she had before.\n\nTrying to get through her writers’ block, she used a technique which was influenced by Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way and Stephen King’s On Writing, in which she wrote 2,000 words on a typewriter every day. Then, she and Pierce spent a couple of months in LA, digging stuff out of the compiled pages and turning them into songs. https://tinyurl.com/22axvkbb", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "trackplay" }, { "id": 3553001, "uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3553001/?format=api", "airdate": "2025-09-14T15:34:35-07:00", "show": 64562, "show_uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/64562/?format=api", "image_uri": "https://ia800908.us.archive.org/2/items/mbid-8ef31eb2-976d-478c-8857-d6970fbdbd79/mbid-8ef31eb2-976d-478c-8857-d6970fbdbd79-42879793747_thumb500.jpg", "thumbnail_uri": "https://dn720709.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-8ef31eb2-976d-478c-8857-d6970fbdbd79/mbid-8ef31eb2-976d-478c-8857-d6970fbdbd79-42879793747_thumb250.jpg", "song": "I Guess", "track_id": "dc11a12e-8a8b-4f08-b360-b50718ec37c2", "recording_id": "48e6d87f-7c80-4477-8f63-ac22321bc0da", "artist": "T. I yanked that one out of myself. It felt like people were thumping my back with their palms while I choked. I was running 5 miles a day in 100 degree weather, hoping I could sweat it out of myself.\n\n\"Sometimes I go dark, and in recent years it’s become more frequent. I don’t use my phone, I’m sitting on thousands of unanswered emails, and my social media sits dormant. When I do this my friends will typically check in on me to make sure I’m okay. I typically just tell them I’m in 'The Hole' and they get it.\n\n\"Same goes for the other way around.
