This period brought The Cure's early gothic phase to a close, resulting in a harrowing, claustrophobic sound that pushed the band to the brink of collapse and led to Gallup's temporary departure.",

"comment": "The Grandaddy reunion tour rolls through Seattle at The Neptune tonight! They are touring in support of the 25th anniversary of their classic album, 'The Sophtware Slump'.\n\nFollowing a brief live reunion in 2012, Grandaddy fully returned in 2017 with Last Place, their first album in over a decade, which was embraced by fans and acclaimed by critics. A sold-out tour was cut short by the unexpected death of bassist Kevin Garcia, and all future plans were canceled indefinitely. But they're back for now, so catch them while you can!\n\nhttps://www.stgpresents.org/events/grandaddy/",

I kept hearing her voice when I was writing this song and just thought \"what the hell, Iʼll reach out and see,\" thinking it was a long shot. But she said she was interested, so we met up and hit it off talking about books, movies and music. She immediately got what I was going for and had great ideas to boot. Sheʼs just a great person and so creative and open. She added a lot to the video concept, as well. It was the kind of collaboration you dream of, honestly.\n\nhttps://wayoutthere.fandom.com/wiki/Who_Laughs_Last",

"comment": "Ivy is a three-piece from NY who released a new album earlier this month.\n\n'Traces of You' was built from the ground up using demos and song fragments dating from between 1995 to 2012. Formed in 1994, Ivy includes Andy Chase, Dominique Durand, and the late Adam Schlesinger. Sadly, Durand and Chase assumed that Ivy was in the rearview after Schlesinger tragically passed away from COVID-19 in 2020. \n\n“The world thought IVY was gone after 2012, and for a time we did too. And after Adam’s death in 2020 it seemed certain,” shares the band’s Andy Chase “So Dominique and I are thrilled to give everyone a brand new IVY album, with our beloved Adam playing on every song!”",

"comment": "KEXP's Music Director Chris Sanley wrote this about the new album from Big Thief:\n\n\"The sheer artistry and magnetism of Big Thief is, well, incomprehensible. With lush, layered soundscapes, their folk-tinged indie-rock soars across nine essential tracks, whittled down from over a hundred at the start of the album’s creation. Now a trio, Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek and James Krivchenia have taken the shift in stride, continuing to expand their intricate sound with Adrienne Lenker’s airy, emphatic vocals and intimate lyricism as their true north. Double Infinity, their sixth studio album, ushers in a new era for Big Thief, one that embraces change, growth, collaboration, and as always, a whole lot of heart. \"\n\nhttps://kexp.org/read/2025/9/8/new-music-reviews-98/\n--\nBig Thief will play Berkeley's Greek Theatre on Thursday, September 25th!",
