This technique involves using two amplifiers facing each other with their tremolo settings at different rates, and a microphone placed between them. Shields then recorded this setup, reversed it, and played it back into a sampler to create the song’s distinctive sound.",

"comment": "The song that inspired Gayngs!\n\n\nEric Stewart spent three weeks recording Graham Gouldman, Kevin Godley and \"Lol\" Creme singing \"ahhh\" 16 times for each note of the chromatic scale, creating a 'choir' of 48 voices for each note.\n\nCreme suggested they could keep the voices going for an infinite time by using tape loops. Stewart created 12 ft long loops by feeding them at one end through the tape heads of the stereo recorder, and at the other end through a capstan roller fixed to the top of a microphone stand.\n\nStewart played each loop through a separate channel of the mixing desk, turning the desk into a musical instrument. He also put gaffer tape across the bottom the channels, making it impossible to completely fade them down, creating constant background vocals.\n\nOnly a few instruments were used: a Fender Rhodes electric piano played by Stewart, a Gibson 335 electric guitar by Gouldman, and a bass drum sound played by Godley on a Moog synthesizer.",

"comment": "Gayngs is a Midwest indie band with a 1980s soft rock-inspired sound. Founded by Ryan Olson, the group consists of 22 musicians, including Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Dessa and P.O.S of Doomtree, Har Mar Superstar and members of Poliça, Megafaun, Roma di Luna, Solid Gold, Digitata, and The Rosebuds.\n\nThe songs, inspired by 10cc's \"I'm Not In Love\", were written at 69 BPM and recorded over the course of a year. The Guardian called the album \"a triumph\" and listed it as \"the album of the year\".\n\nIn May 2010, Gayngs staged a prom-themed release party for their song \"The Last Prom on Earth\" at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Prince watched the show from the side stage.\n\nRyan Olson is a Minneapolis-based musician and producer from Eau Claire, Wisconsin who is a founding member of the bands Poliça, Gayngs, Marijuana Deathsquads, and Taggart & Rosewood and has collaborated with artists such as Bon Iver and Lizzo. Olson founded the artist-run label Totally Gross National Product with his friends in 2004.",
