"comment": "Not only will Camilo Lara return to the Pacific Northwest in 2026 for Pickathon — he’s also back with a new supergroup alongside Colombian band Meridian Brothers: Ruido Tovar.\n\nRuido Tovar’s album will be released on May 22 via legendary NYC Latin indie label Ansonia Records. During my recent trip to Mexico, I sat down with Meridian Brothers’ Eblis Álvarez, who recommended this track — and also the new Conjunto Media Luna album we’ll hear later. Both Camilo and Eblis will appear on Cancioneros 2026, premiering in April 27.\n\nThe Ruido Tovar project draws inspiration from Rigo Tovar and the tropical sounds of the late ’70s and early ’80s. The upcoming album even features Beck on two songs. This collaborative album is rooted in Mexican tropical music from that era. Led by neo-tropical and post-cumbia innovators Eblis Álvarez and Camilo Lara, the project explores the sonic shift that happened when Mexican musicians began moving from traditional instruments to synthesizers.\n***\nCamilo Lara no solo volverá al noroeste del Pacífico en 2026 para el Pickathon, sino que también regresa con un nuevo supergrupo junto a la banda colombiana Meridian Brothers: Ruido Tovar.\n\nEl álbum de Ruido Tovar saldrá a la venta el 22 de mayo a través del legendario sello independiente latino de Nueva York Ansonia Records. After messing with my Linn Drum for a bit, the song fell into this double time thing and I just went with it. I called my friend and bandmate, Dave Hartley, to fill out the bass on the new groove. Then I figured if I had Jimmy Page in the room I’d probably ask him to plug into my favorite rack flanger so that’s what I did. My friend Anthony LaMarca added some last minute percussion. I’m so honored to have gotten to work on this especially since ‘Angie’ was probably the first “rock” song that I asked to be played on repeat when I was really young. Hope you enjoy it!",
