"comment": "In “I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone,” Sleater-Kinney explores the stereotypes that come with being in band—they poke fun at the gendered idolization of male rockstars. In her memoir, Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl, Carrie Brownstein writes: \"'Joey' was really the first song that set the precedent of what would become our habit of meta-songwriting, where we were in a band writing about being in a band, singing about singing. I feel the need to point out that our intent was different from those classic rock songs about being on tour. This isn’t us singing about roadies, drugs, and groupies. We were in dialogue with ourselves; we responded to and addressed the fans, the critics, and even our own work.\" http://www.sleater-kinney.com/\n\nHere's Sleater-Kinney performing Live on KEXP in 2024!\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9OIGuQjfE0",

"comment": "Hey John, \n I've been trying to find a way to share the last two years of my life without it sounding discouraging and depressing. This weekend seems to have shown me the way. My son Nikko, sixteen years old passed away from cancer 50 odd days ago. His celebration of life was eight days ago. It was of course sad, tearfilled but also endearing to be surrounded by family, his friends and the community. Of course the good feelings don't stay The roller coaster continues and down we went. the whole family riding it down. \n His thirteen year old sister Emma has been acting like you would expect. Dark, quiet, interrupted by shouts and tears. On Thursday night a school night I took her to her first show. I may have made a mistake... The band out of Minneapolis is a female pop punk band called Vial. My daughter was hooked by the first crunch of the guitar and the opening scream of lyric. We both came home sweating, shouting and grinning like we were deranged. I encouraged her into the \"pit\" but she wasn't ready but CD's and tshirts came home. \n We have been dealing with cancer for the longest time to actually have a moment of emotional release was cathartic. I'm not sure if live music will fix us but she is now diving into female punk singers. There is hope. \n\nAlex \n\nPS if you have a second can you play something punk female and loud.. \n--\nVIAL is a Minneapolis-based indie punk trio of best friends: Drummer Katie Fischer (she/they), bassist Taylor Kraemer (she/they), and guitarist KT Branscom (they/them). The trio joined forces via Tinder in mid-2019 and has been blazing a path for themselves since, curating a unique multi-genre amalgamation. Indie rock meets punk influence in soaring melodic hooks ready to sink teeth into all listeners alike, from lifelong punk rockers to budding indie darlings.",

It's part of my bittersweet playlist that has songs that help me keep on in this journey of life that is sometimes hard, but also so full of beauty. \n\n\nMy playlist for “accepting life as it is” keeps growing the more I listen to the morning show. Music does heal us every day. Thanks for the music and company \n===========\nJess in Shoreline \nTim of Strand of Oaks is a standup guy. I saw him after one of his shows at the Moore a few years back and told him my wife Jamie was suffering from cancer and wanted to meet him she loved loved his music. Tim and my wife met and he also gave us free front row seats for his show the following day. \n========\nShannon in Snohomish\nGood morning and JESUS CHRIST, you've got me crying in the first set. Just catching a small dose of KEXP before work...my job and my calling is to help people transitioning from incarceration into the community. They are hurt and stigmatized and most of them are trying so damn hard that it humbles me to my core. I could not love them more. These \"don't give up\" encouraging messages are exactly the vibes I want to take with me into my work day. Thank you, you beautiful humans for somehow always giving us what we all need. Much love as always from \n======\nCallie writes \nShoutout from Harrisburg PA. Crying on the way to Costco. Love you all",

I’ve come to the conclusion that empathy is the currency of music – that our job as songwriters is to help people come to terms with their feelings by offering them examples of how others may have dealt with a situation similar to that in which the listener finds themselves. After what we’ve all been through, the idea of being a shield – physically, emotionally, psychologically – resonates beyond the pandemic.” - https://bit.ly/3Bw3gtb",
