He was 66 years old. The Mexican singer, composer, arranger and accordionist was known for his “cumbia rebajada” style, fusing traditional Mexican cumbia with elements of Regional Mexican, ska, hip-hop, reggae, R&B, and more. Piña grew up in the Independencia neighborhood, a troubled neighborhood in downtown Monterrey.
