"comment": "Playing Washington State Fair in Puyallup on September 1st (Labor Day in US). Black Pumas co-founder Adrian Quesada is going it alone once more, sculpting the follow-up to his lauded LP Boleros Psicodélicos. Continuing his homage to Latin sounds of the late 60s and early 70s, incoming (and aptly titled) Boleros Psicodélicos promises to be a fascinating listen. \"No Juego\" is a wonderful example of world-building, with the immersive arrangement lifting guest vocalist Angélica Garcia to a heavenly plane. \"Adrian is very precise in his attention to detail. His records have a warmth to them that I love,\" says Angélica Garcia. \"'No Juego' is such a dramatic and theatrical song. I’m grateful that Adrian protected the intensity of the song, and I’m glad that he didn’t ask me to tone it down. Sometimes you gotta be direct and talk your sh*t.\" https://tinyurl.com/4chpb262 https://adrianquesada.bandcamp.com/album/boleros-psicod-licos-ii https://www.adrianquesada.net/",

"comment": "Tony Allen was born on this day in 1940 (d. April 30, 2020). He was a Nigerian drummer, composer, and songwriter who worked with Fela Kuti's band Africa '70 from 1968 to 1979, and was one of the primary co-founders of the genre of Afrobeat music. Fela once stated that, \"without Tony Allen, there would be no Afrobeat.\" He was described by Brian Eno as \"perhaps the greatest drummer who has ever lived.\" in 2020 he and South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela released \"Rejoice.\" \n\nThis track, featuring Zambian rapper Sampa the Great, was featured on the 2021 posthumous Tony Allen album \"There Is No End.\" “Tony was involved in changing the way African Music was heard and felt, and he has constantly inspired me to learn and to expand my music,” Sampa said in a statement.\n\nAllen began working on \"There Is No End\" in 2019, a year before his death in April 2020 at the age of 79. Allen wrote and produced the album’s beats with drummer Vincent Taeger, a friend and mentee, and Taeger went on to complete the record with the help of co-producer Vincent Taurelle.\n\nhttps://www.bluenote.com/artist/tony-allen/",
