I was in my family’s cabin in the north of Sweden when it happened. Equipped with an acoustic guitar, a violin and a zoom mic I went into a shed and made a quick demo. It was sparse but at the same time it was all there already. I was surprised that I seemed to have written a pop song but apparently that needed to happen. \n\nI wrote This is Our Life about someone very close to me and then realised it could actually be about quite a few people in my life. It recognises the mental and sometimes physical struggle of being a creative person but it also celebrates the forces that keep us going. When we play it with the band I feel so happy. We dance. We enter joyous abandon. We declare pride and wild love.” https://transgressiverecords.com/news/nina-winder-lind-releases-solo-single-this-is-our-life/", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "trackplay" }, { "id": 3656343, "uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3656343/?format=api", "airdate": "2026-05-18T09:42:29-07:00", "show": 66750, "show_uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66750/?format=api", "image_uri": "", "thumbnail_uri": "", "comment": "", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "airbreak" }, { "id": 3656342, "uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3656342/?format=api", "airdate": "2026-05-18T09:37:45-07:00", "show": 66750, "show_uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66750/?format=api", "image_uri": "https://coverartarchive.org/release/a271bd0e-ee87-4957-ac87-10653de95cfe/16674899795-500.jpg", "thumbnail_uri": "https://coverartarchive.org/release/a271bd0e-ee87-4957-ac87-10653de95cfe/16674899795-250.jpg", "song": "Superstar", "track_id": null, "recording_id": "5441806b-3d28-481b-8c3a-b6d15c772c45", "artist": "Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber", "artist_ids": [ "0226e802-58d9-4e2e-9b02-f46711bcbf93", "980ee2d8-2ee9-407b-b48e-48360fbc7437" ], "album": "Jesus Christ Superstar", "release_id": null, "release_group_id": "da2f0b6c-8875-4db8-a31b-2bb60ed15e63", "labels": [ "Music for Pleasure" ], "label_ids": [ "5d4d55aa-6302-41ec-ac5d-b166a6607edb" ], "release_date": "1972-01-01", "rotation_status": null, "is_local": false, "is_request": false, "is_live": false, "comment": "Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre just concluded a run of Jesus Christ Superstar. With a mesmerizing soundscape built from layered keys, guitars, drums, and samples, Getting Killed is an epic, no-holds-barred art rock masterpiece that transcends time, space, and genre. Having cut their teeth as high schoolers, this band has continued to expand its innovative expression with each release, making it clear that the sky — if that — is the limit. https://www.kexp.org/read/2025/9/29/new-music-reviews-929/\n\nhttps://geeseband.com/\nhttps://geesebandnyc.bandcamp.com/", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "trackplay" }, { "id": 3656337, "uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3656337/?format=api", "airdate": "2026-05-18T09:21:14-07:00", "show": 66750, "show_uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66750/?format=api", "image_uri": "https://dn721900.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-0a54174c-7a46-43f3-951e-b96bd9fbcb1f/mbid-0a54174c-7a46-43f3-951e-b96bd9fbcb1f-44140537063_thumb500.jpg", "thumbnail_uri": "https://dn721900.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-0a54174c-7a46-43f3-951e-b96bd9fbcb1f/mbid-0a54174c-7a46-43f3-951e-b96bd9fbcb1f-44140537063_thumb250.jpg", "song": "One Thing at a Time", "track_id": "fec049d1-82ba-43d6-ab45-e0d0d8e84cd6", "recording_id": "bc539663-ad76-4a41-92b0-259eaa06032f", "artist": "Courtney Barnett", "artist_ids": [ "55111838-f001-494a-a1b5-9d818db85810" ], "album": "Creature of Habit", "release_id": "0a54174c-7a46-43f3-951e-b96bd9fbcb1f", "release_group_id": "86bd7034-660d-4f1d-96bf-1a70b81394ab", "labels": [ "Mom + Pop Music" ], "label_ids": [ "e30c6170-fcd5-4c30-9b89-bd1bdcbcaa5f" ], "release_date": "2026-03-27", "rotation_status": "Heavy", "is_local": false, "is_request": false, "is_live": false, "comment": "Australian singer Courtney Barnett is touring:\n-Seattle on August 18th at Woodland Park Zoo\n-SF's on August 26th-28th at The Fillmore \nhttps://www.courtneybarnett.com.au/tour\n\nHer new album, Creature of Habit, just came out in March! \nhttps://courtneybarnett.bandcamp.com\n\nWatch Courtney Barnett's KEXP in-studio session from last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bLlBVtjM_I", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "trackplay" }, { "id": 3656336, "uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3656336/?format=api", "airdate": "2026-05-18T09:17:27-07:00", "show": 66750, "show_uri": "https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66750/?format=api", "image_uri": "", "thumbnail_uri": "", "song": "Heart Has To Work So Hard", "track_id": null, "recording_id": null, "artist": "Blondshell", "artist_ids": [ "f6621a8d-5644-460a-b0a8-9171cb2c595d" ], "album": "Heart Has To Work So Hard", "release_id": null, "release_group_id": null, "labels": [], "label_ids": [], "release_date": "2026-05-18", "rotation_status": "Medium", "is_local": false, "is_request": false, "is_live": false, "comment": "We just got our hands on a new song from Blondshell who says it “is really about friendship and betrayal, getting stuck in a dynamic and letting things fester. The marble tomb that defines Closer’s artwork came from a 1978 photo of a sculpture in an Italian cemetery. Designers Peter Saville and Martyn Atkins had picked the image long before Ian Curtis died. After his death, Saville panicked, thinking people would assume it was a tasteless marketing stunt. But Factory Records moved forward, embracing the eerie coincidence.
