"comment": "\"'The Rat' opens with the sound of guitarist Paul Maroon just hammering the f**k out of a single chord, his Johnny Ramone hand an utter f**king blur. After a few seconds of this, drummer Matt Barrick kicks in, beginning a drum part that is equal parts Clem Burke on “Dreaming” and Keith Moon on “I Can See For Miles,” only somehow maybe better. His transitions from both hands spinning on the hi-hat to death-defying fills are utterly thrilling. One of those fills leads to bassist Peter Bauer gluing it all together, followed by organist Walter Morgan making the sound both huge and somehow melancholy.\n\nIt’s a f**king freight train, a glorious sound with more than a few shades of Deep Purple; which goes on for nearly a minute before lead singer Hamilton Leithauser comes in, clearly near the end of his f**king rope.\"\nEnjoy this essay about this powerful song: https://medialoper.com/certain-songs-3106-the-walkmen-the-rat/",

I wanted it to be powerful and propulsive at the same time, to have this weird combination of power and a super-mellow, super-beautiful vocal thing in the choruses. Mainly, it’s from working on myself and going to therapy and realising how mean I can be to myself. If we walked into a room and heard somebody saying the terrible things we say to ourselves to a friend, we’d get super pissed. The song is really about trying to find a way to love yourself, so you can be more present for other people.\"",

According to ABBA's official site, it was conceived as a dance song with the working title \"Boogaloo.\" They drew inspiration from the 1974 George McCrae disco hit \"Rock Your Baby,\" and from the drumming on the 1972 album Gumbo by Dr. John. Their manager Stig Anderson came up with the title \"Dancing Queen,\" and after several months working on the track, ABBA came up with arguably the world's first Europop disco hit.\n--\nWatch ABBA perform \"Dancing Queen\" live during their tour of Europe and North America in 1979-1980: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2bBTWvmN-8",
