"comment": "Happy Wednesday, and welcome to the Midday Show with Cheryl Waters! We're so happy to have you here with us today. \n\n--\nWaterboys' songwriter and vocalist Mike Scott: \"I was in Manhattan with my girlfriend, Krista. She asked: 'Is it easy to write songs?' In my 20s I hadn’t yet grown out of the urge to show off to a new girlfriend, so I said: 'Yes it is!' I pulled a pen and a piece of paper out of my pocket. There was a moon in the sky, so I wrote down: 'I saw the crescent, you saw the whole of the moon.' She was duly impressed. I fleshed it out in the hotel and back home in London came up with more lyrics and the piano part, a self-taught rhythm with one finger doing one pattern and three fingers doing another.\" \n\nHere's an interview with Scott and backing vocalist Max Edie about how The Waterboys made this great song: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/jul/27/how-we-made-waterboys-the-whole-of-the-moon-mike-scott",

"comment": "Jessie in Oakland\nI was on the verge of taking another day off today, after avoiding the news for well, months, the current occupation in Minnesota pulled me, rightfully so, back in. And Bam, grief stricken, this old abolitionist and activist only wanted to stay in bed. But, then I heard you say, show up for each other, and I thought of my community. My students, the teaching artists, my coworkers, and I decided I'd get back to it. So I got dressed. I packed my little girls and my lunch. I added three new artists to my Bandcamp. And a new Mirah album! So yeah, thank you. Another day, another brick in the wall. Music heals and music motivates! We got this. \nNOTE: Another Brick in the Wall in requests (PT 2 the faster one)",
