I didn’t set out with the idea to write a holiday song but one day I was sitting at the piano and the words and music just poured out. \n\nIt’s been such a difficult year and I hope that this song can bring some light into this dark time. I recorded the vocals and violins at home and produced this one out with Elliot Jacobson (Vérité, Ingrid Michaelson). \n\nAlthough we both live in NYC we sent stems back and forth to each other online because of quarantine. When we finished the song, we sent it to the incredibly talented Mike Tuccillo, who mixed and mastered the track in Los Angeles.”\n\nAnd with that, I’ll leave you to listen to “Christmas Lights on the Lawn:\"\nhttps://bandsdobrooklyn.com/2020/12/03/premiere-christmas-lights-on-the-lawn-from-illicit-ghost/",

"comment": "\"The Christmas Song\" (commonly subtitled \"Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire\" or, as it was originally subtitled, \"Merry Christmas to You\") is a Christmas song written in 1945 by Robert Wells and Mel Tormé. The Nat King Cole Trio first recorded the song in June 1946.\n\nAt Cole's behest – and over the objections of his label, Capitol Records – a second recording was made in August utilizing a small string section. This version became a massive hit on both the pop and R&B charts. Cole again recorded the song in 1953, using the same arrangement with a full orchestra arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle, and once more in 1961, in a stereophonic version with another full orchestra arranged and conducted by Ralph Carmichael.",

With 5 number one hits under their belts, it was only fitting that they record other material and a Christmas album was destined to be. With a mixture of traditional Christmas music and some Motown-penned tunes, \"Merry Christmas\" was released in November 1965. One of the Motown tunes written for the album was \"My Christmas Tree,\" which was written by a soon-to-be-renowned songwriter, Jimmy Webb. It was in fact his first song ever to be recorded by a major recording group. This tune would later be recorded by the Temptations and has become a favorite Motown Christmas tune.\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZNnKNGvPVs",
