"comment": "Lava La Rue:\n“JET LAGGED\" is the sonic love child between me and Foster The People. The song was inspired by my adventures as a Londoner touring America – I’d land in a new city and instantly stay out all night to try and beat the jet lag. The delirium from sleep deprivation put me in a euphoric state that made people think I was on something, and it was kind of an inside joke knowing I was the most sober person acting the least sober.\"\n--\nGo right here for the official video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh3OZj0EELc",

In the depths of winter, that meant there were months at a time where none of us were able to see our friends. There were no outside walks, because it was too cold. I had a bubble with my new partner who was raised in rural France and who knew about all this Eurodance that had never really made it to Canada. Every weekend we’d get together and amid the cold and dark we’d blast Eurodance in my apartment and dance. It was the best antidote to the world we were living in, and those songs offered us a healthy hit of endorphins to combat the dark isolation. I wanted this feeling of euphoria to exist on my record, and here it is in the form of “Hopefulness of Dawn.”",

"comment": "“Bitter Sweet Symphony” is based on a sample from a 1965 version of the Rolling Stones song “The Last Time” by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra. The Verve added strings, guitar, percussion and vocals. They obtained rights to use the “Last Time” sample from the copyright holder, Decca Records, but were denied permission from the Rolling Stones’ former manager, Allen Klein. Following a lawsuit, the Verve relinquished all royalties and the Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were added to the songwriting credits. In 2019, following Klein’s death, Jagger, Richards, and Klein’s son ceded the rights to the Verve songwriter Richard Ashcroft.\n--\nGo here to listen to how the song sounds WITHOUT the sample: https://sampleface.co.uk/a-brief-sample-analysis-of-the-verves-bitter-sweet-symphony/",
