It was the first time I heard DJs talking about the stories behind the music and connecting artists with their influences. It was also the first time I heard a local station broadcast live music from their own studio--Live From Studio A. I donated for the first time to a Public Radio station--the student level of $25 nabbed me 2 CDs of live music: One from WCBE and one from KCRW. Discs that introduced me to bands like Moxy Fruvous and Cibo Matto.\n\nFinding KEXP after moving to Seattle was like coming home again. And, just like WCBE in my 20s, KEXP has broadened my musical world in unexpected ways and connected me with a community of caring, joyful, and open people.
