I think a lot of the emotions can be that nostalgic, even teenage coming of age experiences. So that’s a throwback. It goes back musically, probably Fleetwood Mac-y, even that era was big for us in terms of what we listened to. I remember when I was writing the song I was wanting it to be quite nostalgic, because when I was 14, 15 listening to songs that really kind of hit you in the gut, and you’re starting to go, “What is this world spectrum of emotion that I’m feeling?” You start getting surprised by the highs and the lows that you feel as a young person and so music really can have the ability to accentuate that. I was kind of wanting to explore that in my songwriting for this song.\n---\nWatch this incredible live performance by Middle Kids in our studio in July, 2024: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOpqA",

I kept hearing her voice when I was writing this song and just thought “what the hell, I’ll reach out and see,” thinking it was a long shot. But she said she was interested so we met up and hit it off talking about books, movies and music. She immediately got what I was going for and had great ideas to boot. She’s just a great person and so creative and open. She added a lot to the video concept as well. It was the kind of collaboration you dream of, honestly.”",

"comment": "Electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso have returned with their first new single in three years and announced their decision to pull their music from Spotify, partly in protest of co-founder Daniel Ek’s ties to Helsing, a German defense tech company with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. (Other artists who’ve taken similar stances include Massive Attack, King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard, and Xiu Xiu.)\n--\n“As we prepare to release new music, we have to decide what we want to be a part of and what we don’t,” Sylvan Esso said in a statement. “To that end, with Sylvan Esso being on our own label for the first time, we have decided to remove our music from Spotify. While no solution is perfect, we simply can’t continue to put our life’s work in a store that, in addition to all its other glaring flaws, directly funds war machines.”",
