One night they went out on a schnapps drinking session. Sting returned to his Munich hotel room drunk, slumped on his bed when this song's riff came into his head. He got up and starting walking around the room to try to clear his head muttering to himself, \"Walking round the room, walking round the room.\" \n\nThe next morning he wrote down the riff and decided that \"Walking round the room\" was a stupid title so he changed it to an even more stupid one, which was \"Walking On The Moon.\" The song is set in space, but it's an allegory for how Sting felt when he was on the road, confined to hotel rooms and stages as the world kept turning.\n\nThe song's video was shot at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on October 23, 1979. Stewart Copeland took the opportunity to drum on a Saturn V rocket that served as backdrop. It was directed by Derek Burbidge, who did all of their early videos.\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPwMdZOlPo8","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"trackplay"},{"id":3638506,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3638506/?format=json","airdate":"2026-04-06T05:32:20-07:00","show":66381,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66381/?format=json","image_uri":"","thumbnail_uri":"","comment":"","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"airbreak"},{"id":3638505,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3638505/?format=json","airdate":"2026-04-06T05:29:20-07:00","show":66381,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66381/?format=json","image_uri":"https://dn721802.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-68c6a63d-72d9-4c69-b33d-5a93b3b1d818/mbid-68c6a63d-72d9-4c69-b33d-5a93b3b1d818-43136424930_thumb500.jpg","thumbnail_uri":"https://ia802804.us.archive.org/6/items/mbid-68c6a63d-72d9-4c69-b33d-5a93b3b1d818/mbid-68c6a63d-72d9-4c69-b33d-5a93b3b1d818-43136424930_thumb250.jpg","song":"Moon","track_id":"aef4ee06-ffbc-4c5e-a612-79e30eb54768","recording_id":"ea0ece85-ff50-4aa0-8b78-3970b6116376","artist":"PVA","artist_ids":["3e3c2787-4412-4614-82af-ce903b4d8b96"],"album":"No More Like This","release_id":"68c6a63d-72d9-4c69-b33d-5a93b3b1d818","release_group_id":"ce2f78d9-a9ad-449b-ad98-d7493b9f5ab4","labels":[],"label_ids":[],"release_date":"2026-01-23","rotation_status":"Heavy","is_local":false,"is_request":false,"is_live":false,"comment":"Closing track from PVA's latest album, No More Like This, released in early 2026. \n\nhttps://pvaareok.bandcamp.com/album/no-more-like-this\nhttps://pva.band","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"trackplay"},{"id":3638504,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3638504/?format=json","airdate":"2026-04-06T05:25:27-07:00","show":66381,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66381/?format=json","image_uri":"https://dn710906.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-9fb87630-8fc0-46f3-8080-2c9e716db9a7/mbid-9fb87630-8fc0-46f3-8080-2c9e716db9a7-44625093860_thumb500.jpg","thumbnail_uri":"https://dn710906.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-9fb87630-8fc0-46f3-8080-2c9e716db9a7/mbid-9fb87630-8fc0-46f3-8080-2c9e716db9a7-44625093860_thumb250.jpg","song":"Terrestrials","track_id":"658bd716-c9fa-4b3a-9ae9-1e99ad21a190","recording_id":"f251e94f-be31-4983-bbf2-320ab86c637a","artist":"Pond","artist_ids":["69ac44f7-c80d-47b4-9bc8-fcc758d209e6"],"album":"Terrestrials","release_id":"9fb87630-8fc0-46f3-8080-2c9e716db9a7","release_group_id":"ebbf9d28-685f-404b-8495-004aa0f46418","labels":[],"label_ids":[],"release_date":"2026-03-17","rotation_status":"Medium","is_local":false,"is_request":false,"is_live":false,"comment":"Pond is a psych rock band out of Perth, Australia. \n\nCheck out Pond performing live in the KEXP studio in 2017:\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssh7wzRDJIo\n\nhttps://pond.band","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"trackplay"},{"id":3638503,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3638503/?format=json","airdate":"2026-04-06T05:21:00-07:00","show":66381,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/66381/?format=json","image_uri":"https://dn721900.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-c3087a59-0681-483f-8630-f01f793481f6/mbid-c3087a59-0681-483f-8630-f01f793481f6-42958163470_thumb500.jpg","thumbnail_uri":"https://dn721900.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-c3087a59-0681-483f-8630-f01f793481f6/mbid-c3087a59-0681-483f-8630-f01f793481f6-42958163470_thumb250.jpg","song":"Moon, Please","track_id":"4aaa8086-401a-4e75-ac7b-2a3c719e1c72","recording_id":"94c5a8fd-717d-421c-b38c-eedf42867815","artist":"Go Kurosawa","artist_ids":["e5451b34-10b3-49fb-9a86-37fe7297b8a0"],"album":"soft shakes","release_id":"c3087a59-0681-483f-8630-f01f793481f6","release_group_id":"0f65a305-4faf-4db3-91b3-e832434b0a69","labels":["Guruguru Brain"],"label_ids":["de0ecc1e-519d-40fe-8a29-b07035d9462e"],"release_date":"2025-09-05","rotation_status":"Library","is_local":false,"is_request":false,"is_live":false,"comment":"Live on the Midday Show today at 11am PT...open to the public!\n\nJapanese artist Go Kurosawa is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and co-founder of the independent label Guruguru Brain.
