Shooting Star, their fourth album, is a sprawling new work packed to the brim with playful eccentricities and dynamism, one that owes as much of its inspiration to mid-century folkies like Michael Hurley and Karen Dalton as it does to alt rock of the nineties like Yo La Tengo and Stereolab.\"\n\nhttps://goldenapples.bandcamp.com/album/shooting-star-2","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"trackplay"},{"id":3567969,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3567969/?format=json","airdate":"2025-10-21T08:59:44-07:00","show":64894,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/64894/?format=json","image_uri":"","thumbnail_uri":"","comment":"","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"airbreak"},{"id":3567968,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3567968/?format=json","airdate":"2025-10-21T08:57:02-07:00","show":64894,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/64894/?format=json","image_uri":"","thumbnail_uri":"","song":"Beautiful Love","track_id":"31fb6cea-a56c-3f92-8167-c853998faca7","recording_id":"7f05e850-cd1d-4803-ab11-99673afac055","artist":"Julian Cope","artist_ids":["09d878d8-bc2e-4d04-b4aa-57ab614f93ab"],"album":"Beautiful Love EP","release_id":"90d43a50-7d00-4b8e-a1ce-e17ad04120b5","release_group_id":"7a6507f1-2659-36f4-b4b5-bba08f00b0b3","labels":["Island"],"label_ids":["dfd92cd3-4888-46d2-b968-328b1feb2642"],"release_date":"1991-01-01","rotation_status":null,"is_local":false,"is_request":false,"is_live":false,"comment":"On this day in 1957, 68 years ago, singer, songwriter, and The Teardrop Explodes frontman, Julian Cope was born.\n--\n\"Beautiful Love\" by Julian Cope is the first single released in support of his 1991 album Peggy Suicide, and also 1991 Beautiful Love EP. http://www.headheritage.co.uk/","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"trackplay"},{"id":3567967,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3567967/?format=json","airdate":"2025-10-21T08:54:25-07:00","show":64894,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/64894/?format=json","image_uri":"https://dn721806.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-6b956618-7189-4474-bce0-7d10f6562704/mbid-6b956618-7189-4474-bce0-7d10f6562704-3776907894_thumb500.jpg","thumbnail_uri":"https://dn721806.ca.archive.org/0/items/mbid-6b956618-7189-4474-bce0-7d10f6562704/mbid-6b956618-7189-4474-bce0-7d10f6562704-3776907894_thumb250.jpg","song":"Depending on You","track_id":"7931809c-539b-31a9-85c9-0a5bc34cdfb5","recording_id":"9c8d45be-d7a8-49f1-8a12-c19b21f5283d","artist":"Tom Petty","artist_ids":["5ca3f318-d028-4151-ac73-78e2b2d6cdcc"],"album":"Full Moon Fever","release_id":"6b956618-7189-4474-bce0-7d10f6562704","release_group_id":"ffbef03e-3651-39db-8a2f-e140dc5aa219","labels":["MCA Records","BMG Direct Marketing, Inc."],"label_ids":["46a3941a-c810-47a1-974f-955effec4d09","9a7d39a4-a887-40f3-a645-a9a136d1f13f"],"release_date":"1989-01-01","rotation_status":null,"is_local":false,"is_request":false,"is_live":false,"comment":"Tom Petty’s Full Moon Fever (1989) is our Album of the Week!","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"trackplay"},{"id":3567966,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3567966/?format=json","airdate":"2025-10-21T08:49:56-07:00","show":64894,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/64894/?format=json","image_uri":"","thumbnail_uri":"","comment":"DJ Rich on WHUS in CT.\n\n\nIt was one year ago today that I emailed you after DJing my first radio show on my local college station. I am proud to say that yesterday I had my 52nd broadcast. I remember being in the studio the first time, 7am on a Monday, no one else around, hoping I remembered everything I learned in my brief 3hr training session. I made it through that day and many after that, now feeling much more conformable around the board, even though there always seems to be something quirky going on in the studio. \n\n\nLast year I made a joke about having 10s of fans, now I think it’s more than that (which amazes me). It’s interesting because as a DJ I got positive feedback from my friends and family, but they’re my friends and family and I expect them to not say anything negative. But lately I’ve been getting calls on the studio line or emails from random listeners stating they are really enjoying the show. \n\n\nI’m mainly writing to thank you again. You inspire people in so many different ways, sometimes I wonder if you really know the impact you and KEXP have on the world. In these dark days, you exude positivity and give a ray of hope to everyone who listens.","location":1,"location_name":"Default","play_type":"airbreak"},{"id":3567965,"uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/plays/3567965/?format=json","airdate":"2025-10-21T08:47:21-07:00","show":64894,"show_uri":"https://api.kexp.org/v2/shows/64894/?format=json","image_uri":"","thumbnail_uri":"","song":"50ft Queenie","track_id":"2be903ec-2958-3a63-9727-750476c46e46","recording_id":"ffb45956-0a47-470b-9c42-c848e0179f45","artist":"PJ Harvey","artist_ids":["e795e03d-b5d5-4a5f-834d-162cfb308a2c"],"album":"Rid of Me","release_id":"7ccd7178-b401-4ee8-acd6-d9bf0aaec04a","release_group_id":"c1bb54cc-751d-300c-ba29-d7502d571c2d","labels":["Island"],"label_ids":["dfd92cd3-4888-46d2-b968-328b1feb2642"],"release_date":"1993-04-05","rotation_status":"Library","is_local":false,"is_request":false,"is_live":false,"comment":"PJ Harvey's second studio album, \"Rid of Me,\" was produced by the late, revered Steve Albini.\n\nThis song was recorded at Pachyderm Studios outside Minneapolis with Steve Albini, who had previously produced albums for Pixies and The Breeders.
