(born June 20, 1942 – age 76) Along with his two younger brothers and their cousin, Mike Love, Wilson began performing at parties and small gatherings. They formed the Pendletons and recorded demos of two surfing-themed songs, “Surfin’” and “Surfin’ Safari.” Without the band's knowledge or permission, the label that released the songs (Candix Records) had changed their name to the Beach Boys. Both songs were hits, so they kept the name.\n Initially inspired by the Beatles’ Rubber Soul (1965), Wilson’s goal was to create an album where “every song mattered” and that would “make people feel loved.” The result was 1966’s Pet Sounds, which is ranked by many as one of the greatest albums of all time.", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "trackplay" }
