Today is Music Heals: Beyond Cancer, a day when we acknowledge and honor the suffering of those who’ve been affected by cancer, join in community together, and affirm the power of music to make a difference in our lives. Thank you so much for being here!\n---\nRequested by Caroline in Seattle: I’d like to request a song for my stepmom, Dana, who passed away earlier this April after a brutal and abrupt battle with stage 4 uterine cancer. She was diagnosed far too late in December with a tumor so large that she was already 10cm dilated—which speaks to the incredible amount of force and strength she had, and shows just how much pain women can endure in this world, for better or worse.\nIt was always a running joke between my dad, Dana, and others that she was my father’s guardian angel—saving him from years of emotional turmoil after he and my mom split up. But now, looking back, I think perhaps she was actually my guardian angel. She became the support system I never had, someone I could rely on and trust. With her by my dad’s side, I finally felt a deep sense of freedom, knowing he was safe, cared for, and truly loved.\nI’ll never forget how she welcomed me into her basement with my best friend after college, or the concerts we went to together with my dad—especially The Rolling Stones, where we danced all night. If you could please play Wild Horses in honor of her, and for my dad who has yet to truly grieve, we would be so grateful.", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "trackplay" }{ "id": 3542884, "uri": "
