WE LOVE YOU! Stick around for the Afternoon Show with Larry Mizell, Jr., and more Amplifier requests!\n\nFor Mike in the Central District:\n\n\"Hello Cheryl and all the Amazing KEXP Crew!\n\nI came into this world with a love for music. My mom says that as an infant when I was fussy and not wanting to go down for my nap, she’d play albums by groups like The Four Freshmen or The Lettermen and I'd be soothed to sleep in minutes. When I was a preschooler, two of my sisters would record me singing Carole King, Neil Diamond and the Godspell soundtrack into a tape recorder. I grew up memorizing and singing along to just about every song in rotation on WLS AM89 in Chicago where we lived. I nearly drove a future brother-in-law crazy on a 3-hour road trip because I would not stop singing along to the radio as I sat between him and my sister.\n\nAll this to say I apparently could not live without music around me since day 1. It took me about four years of constant wandering around the radio dial after I moved here to Seattle in 1998 to fully realize the treasure waiting for me at 90.3 FM. I’ve never moved that dial since. The styles of music popular on commercial stations in the 90s never really grabbed me, so by 2002 I was feeling musically lost. When I gave KEXP a more dedicated listen around that time and started hearing The Shins, The Delays and The Postal Service, it was literally manna from heaven for me.\n\nMy gratitude has no end for all you do to fill my life with fantastic music, touching artist tributes, affirmation of my music geekness and shared bonds with other listeners who I’ll never meet. Keep doing everything you do and keep being exactly who you are! I truly never do feel alone whenever I am tuned in. This is why I have been an amplifier since the first year you started that program.\n\nMy request is for a band you introduced me to in 2007 and that I fell in love with immediately. I miss them very much as they called it quits ten years ago. Could you please play 'Hold On To This Coat' by The Rosebuds?\"", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "trackplay" }{ "id": 3545493, "uri": "
