    "comment": "La Bruja De Texcoco is the musical project of Mexican artist Octavio Mendoza Anario, who has also performed under the moniker “O.” The origin story of this project is unique: Anario had been hired to play violin with a group of traditional musicians who play guitars made from armadillo shells. In the middle of the event, a woman started convulsing and a curandero (a traditional healer) asked Anario to play her violin as a means of healing this woman. Panicked, she strummed “El Pescador” — one of the hymns she’d learned in Catholic masses as a kid — and her band chimed in. The woman got better, and the healer took Anario into the woods and instructed her to address the demon that she had helped expel. She called herself La Bruja de Texcoco and began identifying as a woman (prior to that night, she had been living as a cisgender man).
