    "comment": "From Steph in Seattle:\n\nI'd like to honor my vocal teacher, Mary Pat Graham. I joined her class many years ago at North Seattle Community College’s Continuing Education program and followed her as she cultivated an ensemble called Sing For Your Life. Under Mary Pat’s empowering teaching, I quite literally found my voice. Turns out my old jr high choir teacher had it all wrong- I was NOT an alto, but a soprano that could hit a High C. During the time that I attended Sing For Your Life sessions, Mary Pat introduced me to so much beautiful music that touched my heart and soul in a way I’d never known. Pure joy was released in harmony, the sound & energy filling the room at each session, allowing us singers to leave the stresses of life for just a moment. It was exhilarating. I left the group when I became a mom and never made my way back. Covid came and then I heard that Mary Pat had passed away from cancer. Whenever I hear an old standard we practiced, I always think of her, and how I wish I had the chance to tell her how much she made a positive impact on my life.",
