They were deaths she saw coming for a while, and as a practicing Buddhist, she tried to accept the inevitable with compassion and patience, but I know she is grieving. She lives in Oakland and since KEXP's expansion to the Bay Area, sometimes she'll text me to say she's enjoying the music, and often I'm listening at the same time so it makes the distance between us feel smaller. I don't know if there are any good songs out there about pet loss; maybe you know of one? But if not, maybe \"Landslide\" by Fleetwood Mac? Because change is inevitable, that's one of the teachings of Buddhism that resonates even for me as a non-Buddhist.",
