We met in graduate school: me from northern Minnesota, she from Shanxi Province in China. Despite the geographic and cultural differences, we quickly discovered that we had common spirits, and were sympathetically aligned on all the big questions. We were together thirty years and raised a daughter and a son, both young adults now: accomplished and admirable humans of whom we are proud. \n\nThe grief has transformed over the passing years, with the feelings now best described as gratitude, for the most part (though the feelings of loss are always there, too). Would you please play Cassandra Wilson's \"Closer to You\" and send it out to the love of my life, Jinhong, who passed in February 2020. Jinhong was an accomplished scientist, dedicated to bringing anti-cancer therapies from the research bench to the clinic. She was a talented musician, a loving mother, daughter, sister. Her smile and her positive energy touched all who knew her. I miss her every day; so thankful to have had her in my life.",
