Throughout the evening I held the sense of my mother close in. She died in March. In late January she was feeling pressure in her upper abdomen and 6 weeks later she was dead from a growth in her pancreas that had spread far and wide. When John asked that we imagine our loved one at their happiest moment, I saw her joy filled face and proud eyes and the gazillion times I was on the receiving end of that look. \nFor her 80th birthday, some years back we threw her a New Orleans style living funeral complete with marching band escorting her in down the driveway. It was among my favorite life moments, getting to read her eulogy with her alive and well. When the show last night ended with the New Orleans style marching band I felt her close in, in my every sense. What a way to end the night. âThank youâ doesn’t cover it!\nOWEN NOTE: Tossed in some Hot 8 Brass band into requests\n========\nJenni in Seattle\nI knew I needed to be at death and music (and) didn't know what I would find here. Turns out I needed to cry. When Suzzallo started playing the tears just fell, and I felt so much relief, and tears continued to stream down my face as the brass band closed it all out. I went to the event on my own, those I hoped would join me couldn't make it or weren't ready to be and that's ok, and I was far from alone. Thank you for that space and place to gather and feel. Easily the most meaningful live music event I've ever been to. It makes sense that you're tired, I think we all are.", "location": 1, "location_name": "Default", "play_type": "airbreak" }
