The Last Waltz was advertised as the Band's \"farewell concert appearance\", and the concert had the Band joined by more than a dozen special guests.\n\nFor \"The Last Waltz,\" The Staple Singers sang \"The Weight\" on an M.G.M. soundstage in front of an audience of two hundred and fifty people. As the song finishes up, the camera settles on the Staples family—Roebuck (“Pops”), out of focus in the background, and his daughters, Cleotha, Yvonne, and Mavis.
