    "comment": "Melina is one of 15 artists nominated for the 2026 Music Moves Europe Awards, a prize that celebrates emerging European artists.\n\nInspired by her Greek origins, Melina Vlachos writes and composes melodies, which she sings while playing the oud and dancing, accompanied by double bass and oriental percussion. Melina grew up in Paris in a Franco-Greek family, studied with well-known artists in the Greek-Turkish scene, and mastered oriental repertoire and the art of improvisation. The prize was known as the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA) until 2019, and the Music Moves Europe Talent Award (MMETA) until 2022.\n\nThe EBBA Awards were launched by the European Commission and are a European Union award. Since 2009, the awards are organised by Eurosonic Noorderslag and the award is presented at the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in the Dutch city of Groningen. The award ceremony takes place every year in January and is presented by BBC host and musician Jools Holland.
