    "comment": "On this day in 1972, the day before David Bowie's 25th birthday, RCA issued their first ever David Bowie single: Changes/Andy Warhol. Originally released on the album Hunky Dory in December 1971. Despite missing the Billboard top 40, \"Changes\" became one of Bowie's best-known songs. This was the last song Bowie performed live on stage before his retirement from live performances at the end of 2006. \n--\n\"It's not as truly hostile about Americans as say Born In The U.S.A.': it's merely sardonic,\" Bowie explained in a press release. \"I was traveling in Java when its first McDonald's went up: it was like, 'for f--k's sake.' The invasion by any homogenized culture is so depressing, the erection of another Disney World in, say, Umbria, Italy, more so. It strangles the indigenous culture and narrows expression of life.\"",
