My first week of chemo I listened to jock jams on the way into the oncology office to get myself pumped up and inject some levity into a hard and scary day. “It Takes Two” was especially apt since the combo of chemo and radiation was the line of treatment to shrink my tumor. I get my first follow up scans this winter.",

Even when we were both feeling absolutely wretched during treatment, we could always talk about music. We lost Mike in February of 2022 which left a huge hole in all of our hearts. I take comfort that he always seems to come back to me in the music, when I need him most. When I am driving to my scans, I always put my music on shuffle - and without fail EVERY TIME, one of Mike's favorite songs will come on and I just know it is him saying hello. Could you please play Beirut's \"\"Postcards From Italy\"\" in honor of Mike. Keep fighting the good fight.",

Thankfully, each time my cancer has been very localized and treatable. I'm one of the lucky ones and grateful for the excellent care I've received, as well as the science and treatments that have made dealing with my diagnoses stressful moments in time and not life-changing occurrences. I do not take this for granted and realize how fortunate I am. I share this story to put my gratitude out in the universe and provide one story that exemplifies how a cancer diagnosis can sometimes be met with elements of hope. \n\nI'll request \"\"Keep your eyes ahead\"\" by the Helio Sequence if I may.\"",

I used the last of my strength and the last of my water to get to the tree... only to discover it wasn't a place to rest, but a place where people had quit and were waiting for a ride home. I was broken and wanted to stop, but I couldn't because I had to complete the race it for Todd.\n\nI think Cake's \"The Distance\" captures this feeling pretty well.\n\n Kyle",

Hospitals were overwhelmed, and when she started getting sick, there was little chance of her getting the care she needed. I could only attend her funeral virtually. I remember being a quiet teenager, hiding from the rest of our extremely sociable family in Eileen's cabin one summer at Big Bear. She watched Blue Bloods reruns with a glass of Johnny Walker Red, talking through the show. \nShe never made me talk, never told me I was missing out, but welcomed me in without expectation. I showed up early every day. Over the week she managed to get me so comfortable that I started making fun of her crush on Tom Selleck's mustache. Every time I saw her after that, it was like being with my best friend. It's cheesy, but her favorite song was Build Me Up Buttercup. I'm still angry at how we lost her, and I'd love to hear that song this morning.\n\n\nJoey in Redmond",

My mom’s mom died from cancer when my\nMom was only 16, and my dad’s diagnosis paralyzed her with fear, so she needed help. I listened to KEXP every day during that time to stay grounded, and connected to home\n\nMy dad is a serious and scholarly person. One very unexpected silver lining of being a cancer patient was how it allowed my dad to access a softer, sillier and even childlike part of himself.\n\nSomething that brought us joy and comfort was to rewatch episodes of Sesame Street and the Muppet Show that we enjoyed together when I was a child. That time we spent, holding hands on the couch, was incredibly special.\n\nWill you please play “Lime in the Coconut?” (Preferably Muppet version!) for my dad, Mark, who is cancer free and singing again professionally, with Mendelssohn Chorus; the oldest professional choir in the country.\n\nTHANK YOU!!!!",

She was always onto the newest music and art long before me-- tumors took her from us way too young-- at 59, 10 years ago-- but she did so much in her life as an artist, teacher, radical peace activist, calligrapher and mom. We missed her so much at our wedding this summer-- but we were sure that she was blessing us from heaven, and sad about not being there with us. I imagined her enjoying a drink with Jim Morrrison, Kris Kristofferson, and John Lennon while we got married... would you play her The Doors LA WOMAN?\n\nlove you guys all-- thank you for this day.\n\nKristin (Central District)",

Our love for music and exploring nature drew us together. The memories of searching for Sasquatch and roadtrip soundtracks still brings me joy. She was the ringleader of our mighty girl group and her spirit lives on in her 3 children. Please play Spill the Wine by War in honor of Kelli.
